If you love the mountains, you will find everything you could wish for in the San Pellegrino Ski Area. With 60 km of downhill slopes of different lengths and difficulty, a snowpark with three different lines and various features such as the BigAirBag, three ski school areas for learning to ski, cross-country trails and plenty of opportunities for snowshoeing and ski mountaineering, you will be spoilt for choice.
The San Pellegrino Ski Area is the perfect place for families, but also a destination for more experienced skiers looking for thrilling runs. With sunny slopes and technical north-facing runs, snow quality is guaranteed all season long.
The area is part of the Val di Fassa “Piste Azzurre” project and is known for hosting the world’s skiing elite. It is the training base of Italian and foreign national teams and hosts international competitions such as the Ski World Cup Val di Fassa and the women’s Alpine Skiing European Cup. It also has a Ski Cross course in the Costabella area, which has hosted the European Cup as well.
A challenge for expert skiers is “La VolatA”, a run that starts with two technical walls called “Alberto” and “Manfroi”, then crosses the forest and tackles the steep, seemingly endless walls known as “del Poeta”. The descent culminates in an exciting “dosso del camoscio” (chamois bump), followed by a long final schuss down to the valley station of the Col Margherita cable car. The run opened in December 2017 and has hosted major international competitions.
If you love snowboarding, don’t miss the SanPe Snowpark, located in a sunny area sheltered from the wind near the Campigol chairlift. The park offers lines for every level, from Easy to Medium and the more advanced L Line, with a variety of features and jumps so that everyone can have fun safely. Its central position makes it easy to reach from the lifts and hotels of the San Pellegrino Pass.
For families with children, the San Pellegrino Ski Area is the perfect choice. While adults enjoy the more challenging slopes or relax in the mountain chalets along the runs, little ones can learn to ski safely with qualified, multilingual instructors. The ski school areas have magic carpets and easy drag lifts, and offer three themed trails with bends, jumps and other attractions to help children improve their technique.
