Easy hike near Moena – From the San Pellegrino Pass to the Fuciade hut

The Fuciade hut, nestled at the foot of the Costabella range, is easily reached from the San Pellegrino Pass, about 15 minutes’ drive from Moena. It is a hike open to everyone, on a dirt path, and one of the most charming and least tiring in the Dolomites.

Start: San Pellegrino Pass

  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Elevation gain: 50 m
  • Difficulty: easy

The walk to the Fuciade hut is an easy hike in Val di Fassa, suitable for everyone, including children, for a totally relaxing day spent enjoying an unrivalled panorama.

The Fuciade basin below the Costabella range offers picture-postcard views among the old wooden shepherds’ huts, the tabià, which make the walk romantic and incredibly pleasant. Today the tabià have become holiday retreats for locals and city dwellers. As you walk you can admire the Pale di San Martino, with the Agner, the Focobon group and the Mulaz in view. The hut can be reached all year round, even in winter on snowshoes, but of course the ease of the trail attracts a huge number of visitors. We recommend visiting in the low season, in spring or autumn, when the sunlight changes, the mountains take on incredible colours and there are fewer people on the path.

Follow trail 607, which leads in one hour from the San Pellegrino Pass at 1,920 m to the Fuciade hut at 1,972 m. Once you have found the start near the ski-slope overpass, where there is also a sign for the hut, you can’t go wrong. The whole route follows a dirt track through the woods before opening into the stunning Fuciade basin, along little tracks linking beautiful tabià.
