A challenging hike leading to one of the wildest and least visited parts of Alpe Lusia. A high-altitude loop with a magnificent view of the Catinaccio (Rosengarten), Latemar, Monzoni, Pale di San Martino and Lagorai.
From Moena, drive to the base of the Lusia gondola at Ronchi. Using the lifts (first and second sections), you reach Le Cune (2,200 m), which offers a magnificent view of the Catinaccio, Latemar, Monzoni, Pale di San Martino and Lagorai.
Start: top station at Le Cune (Lusia gondola, Ronchi)
From Le Cune (2,200 m), descend along trail no. 614 towards Passo Lusia and then take trail no. 633. Following the ski runs, keep climbing up to the Lastè huts (2,339 m), which are always open as shelters in bad weather. Climb further along the southern porphyry terrace of Cima Lastè and, after a few bends, reach La Trincea at 2,428 m. Here you can see the remains of First World War fortifications and, not far away, the secluded basin of the Lusia lakes, overlooked by the Grònton. The path now descends towards the first of the two lakes, both natural biotopes. If your legs still allow it, you can continue up to Cima Bocche (Cimon de Boce) at 2,745 m.
Climbing through the pastures beside the Rif de Lujia stream, you reach the beautiful second lake in 20 minutes and then, in another 20 minutes, the Sforcela de Boce (2,541 m). You can return along the same path or, to complete the loop, take trail no. 632 to the Valbona gondola mid-station. From here you can reach the Sandro Redolf bivouac at Sforcela de Lujia (2,363 m), then descend along trail no. 634 to the junction with the forest road; turn left and follow trail no. 625 to Malga Colvere, the La Rezila hut and the Valbona gondola. Once at La Rezila, you can also choose to return along the forest road that leads back to the starting point at Ronchi.
